Walk A Mile
DVCC is holding "Walk A Mile", a self-paced event, at Minot’s Roosevelt Park from April 17th to 24th (Please, note due to limitations of this website's software this event is listed as only the 25th.) Participants may choose any day during the week-long event to walk a mile in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and prevention of future violence. Participants are asked to pre-register. Registration is $25.00 for each person. The first 100 participants will receive a “thank you” gift bag to be picked up at DVCC’s Minot office prior to completing their walk. The trail is marked by signs on the walking path on the back loop where the bandstand is located. You must cross over the footbridge. Participants are encouraged to showcase their support by using the hashtag #DVCCWalkAMile with their photos and videos on social media with #WalkaMile.
The changes in the event from past years are to bring awareness that anyone may be a survivor of sexual violence and this trauma is completely preventable through healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, and bystander intervention. Follow along on the trail with interactive signage and on DVCC’s website and social media to learn more about healthy relationships or how to help if you or someone you know has been impacted by sexual violence.
